Originally built as a Mill in the 1840s, it was renovated into a home in the 1950s. This 5 bedroom, 3.5 bath retreat on nearly 20 acres of pasture and woods right on the river is the perfect place to get away. You can fish right off the porch or take one of the kayaks out on the river!

The space
The Mill is an 18 acre property situated on the beautiful Flat Rock River in central Indiana. Water views! Built in the 1800s as a grist mill and renovated in 1950s into a home, the grand estate feels like stepping back in time. To a different era when life was slower and time cherished. Run your hands through the grass, lay in it if you want! Take a deep breath and listen to the sounds of the river. Feel the warmth of the sun on your skin, or the chill of the morning air.

Explore
Kayaks (2 adults & 1 youth) plus life jackets, basic fishing gear, and a fire pit are available on site. Walking trails, beach areas along the river, and woods are all available for you to explore. The Flat Rock River is perfect for wading when the river isn't high or fast moving. If you can see the bottom, then it is likely safe to enter. Occasionally, there are horses on the property and ask that you do not enter the field with them for safety reasons.

Wildlife
Bald Eagles, Blue Heron, Turkey, Deer, Raccoons, & a multitude of birds all call The Mill Estate home. The most common fish caught in the river is Small Mouth Bass.

Basics
We provide bedding, bath towels (not for river use), toilet paper, cookware, flatware, and cooking basics.

Kitchen: GE Cafe Series double oven/microwave, large refrigerator, dishwasher, electric cooktop, cooking basics, two sinks.

All bedrooms upstairs:

Master Bedroom - King Bed, river view, En-suite with bath tub, shower and two sinks, furniture, small fold down couch bed.

2nd Bedroom - King Bed, river view

3rd Bedroom - Queen Bed, river view

4th Bedroom - Trundle bed with double mattress on top and twin mattress on bottom.

5th Bedroom/Space: 5 Twin bunks build into the wall of the third floor room. Large open area, great for kids!

Upstairs Hall Bathroom - Shower Tub.

Downstairs Bathrooms:

Additional notes
The Mill Estate is also a Non-Profit Veterans Marriage Retreat - “The Mission at the Mill” - and therefore does not have Wi-Fi or TVs to encourage couples to disconnect. Cell service is available and you can work remotely off of cell service hot spot.

Currently, the county does not allow us to host weddings or large events that greatly exceed the capacity of the home.

Neighborhood overview
The Estate is on a dead end road. There is one neighbor that lives in a house nearby, who is a descendent of the original family that converted the Mill into a home. Great neighbors!
